I'm Paul Brigner, North American Regional Bureau Director for the
Internet Society.
I'd like to invite you to our upcoming INET conference in New York on November
fifteenth.
It will be an open forum on the new Copyright Alert System.
That's in New York on November fifteenth at three PM at the New York Law School.
The Copyright Alert System will soon be launched by an organization called the
Center for Copyright Information,
which itself was formed by some of the largest Internet service providers and
content companies operating in the United States.
The purpose of the alert system is to inform broadband customers when their
Internet connections are being used to download content illegally.
There's a lot of discussion about this program in the blogosphere where it is
sometimes referred to as the six strikes program.
Now that it is about to launch, the Internet Society believes it's very important for
the Internet community and for Internet users to understand exactly how it works.
Therefore we're having this forum where the Center for Copyright Information,
the Motion Picture Association of America, the Recording Industry
Association of America as well as some internet service providers and content
companies will come tell us all about it.
Of course the Internet society always believes and having a multi stakeholder
dialogue
so we will have a panel of public interest advocates expressing their
views about the program.
And last but not least you will have ample opportunity to ask your questions
and get them answered.
We're very much looking for to this program and we hope you will participate
either in person are online.
It's on November fifteenth at three PM
at the New York Law School in New York.
We look forward to seeing you then. Thank you very much.
