Hi my name is Norman Oetker, this is December 13 2010.
And I'm still in Reynosa Mexico and
it's right across the Texas border
into Mexico.
uh...
Difficult times now in Mexico.
uh.. Today I want to talk about depression
and it's my depression.
The symptoms of depression are common to a lot of people: a sense of hopelessness, loneliness,
minor aches and pains,
suicidal thoughts
no sense of accomplishment, just to name some.
Where does depression come from?
Some say, it's a chemical imbalance in the brain,
and other say it's genetics.
Other say it's a personal environment, in the place, or how one is raised.
The world's answer is, and that being from, the non Christian Believers.
They believe in drug therapy,
counseling,
and to be beware of the triggers, that sets one down
depression's lane.
Seasonal holidays such as Christmas now, Thanksgiving, Anniversaries, Birthdays and
whatever.
Is it really all about a chemical
imbalance in the brain?
Christian Believers
aren't immune from depression.
Communication
is a key factor,
yet, Christian needs to be thoughtful about
who to contact about depression.
A Christian counselor, is one that uses the New Testament teaching, as the direct
application to the problem.
Man, and I mean
uses the Bible. Not some uh...
school training idea.
Inadvertently hurting people with
depression.
By saying such things as,
oh, they'll snap out of their problem,
or
don't talk to them, let them have space.
Not wanting to listen, but always having an opinion, for their problem's solution.
And never wanting to listen.
And I'm going to do this in three parts, this is part one.
