Hello, my name is Gary Reeves,
and I am a Senior Technical Solutions Specialist with Yokogawa Corporation of America at the Sugar Land, TX office.
Today we are going to share information about a new addition to the CENTUM VP Integrated Production Control system.
This new interface is called the Unified Gateway Station that inputs variable data from subsystems
and incorporates their alarms and events into CENTUM VP’s consolidated alarm management system,
thus treating these external systems as if they belonged natively to the CENTUM VP.
This specific improvement allows for full integration of data in the hundreds of thousands of points
from Yokogawa’s StardomSTARDOM intelligent RTU and other non-Yokogawa devices
commonly found in the oil & gas, power & chemical industries.
The unified gateway Unified Gateway Station includes the engineering tools
to make integration of data into the CentumCENTUM VP interface very productive with the least amount of time.
Any of the data can be easily incorporated into the CENTUM VP human interface such as alarms,
historization and visualization in the form of a standard faceplate.
The new Unified Gateway Station has the capability to handle up to 2,000,000 data items and create up to 100,000 tags.
This information can be from various devices supporting OPC communication,
Modbus communication or EtherNet/IP communications.
The platform for the Unified Gateway Station is a standard PC with the secure and redundant connection
to the CENTUM VP industry proven Vnet/IP control network.
With the inclusion of the Unified Gateway Station, this hardware increases the ability to input field digital data;
including real-time measurement data; diagnostic data from intelligent field devices;
subsystems data such as PLCs from a multitude of packaged process units, Motor Control Centers,
Safety Instrumented Systems, Compressor and Turbine Control Systems and the like,
seamlessly communicating using protocols common to the process industries.
The CENTUM VP software allows for data via the Unified Gateway Station to be viewed on the standard human interface system
in the format for graphic displays, faceplates, process alarms and trend displays.
In summary, the new Unified Gateway Station is a valuable addition to the industry proven CENTUM VP and provides
a cost effective means to interface to the various subsystems found in the process industries.
