Today is an exciting day at Ryerson University! Gould Street has been transformed into a farmers market
with local food that has been grown on campus. But the most exciting part of the
day is the cook-off where teams have come together to see who came up with the best
recipe!
We are Team Greenbelt. We are from the Greenbelt fund and we are the Galloping Greenbelt Gourmets!
Here we are. We have made a beautiful roasted vegetable and Mediterranean barley salad.
Why are we going to win? Well, not only does it taste amazing, but it's also using all the
local bounty that has been grown right here at Ryerson. Uses some pantry staples, a quick
little dressing, it can be warm, it can be cold, it can be anything you want and it's
delicious and wonderful, and we're going to win! Woo!
Hi, we're Team Blue at the Rye's HomeGrown Cook-off. We've made vegetable ribbons with
spicy tomato sauce, mint and roasted beets. We also have a mixed green salad with a dijon
and poppy seed vinaigrette. We're going to win today because we've used all the vegetables
from Rye's HomeGrown's eight beautiful gardens and we used the least outside products. We're
really showcasing them today. Thanks!
Hi, we're from FIRST Lab, here at Ryerson in the Nutrition department.
Our menu today is a garden tomato soup with zucchini croutons. We're also serving
nectarine, beet and shard salad with mint vinaigrette,
pumpkin seeds and lemon cucumber.
So last call folks, last call for ballots! If you have a ballot and you need to cast your vote
please do so right now. We're about to close the voting to tally the votes to announce our winner.
Okay, contestants, amazing cooks, please come on down!
So, without further ado, I'm going to tap the side of this thing and give it a little
rollllll... the winner of the Rye's HomeGrown's first annual community cook-off is...
Team Greenbelt!
Congratulations! This dreamy box of Rye's produce is coming your way!
