It seems logical to assume that many patients with heart problems could eventually die as
a result of their condition, but this might not be the case today. I'm Shelby Cullinan

In a new study that followed patients who underwent procedures to treat blocked arteries,
a shift in the patients' causes of death was discovered. The researchers found that as
time went on, fewer patients were dying from heart-related troubles and more were dying
from Cancer and other chronic conditions. Dr. Rajiv Gulati of the Mayo Clinic, who led
the study, explains what they found...
"Patients with established heart disease undergoing angioplasty and stenting in the modern era
have only about a 1 in 3 chance of dying from their heart disease and a 2 in 3 chance of
dying from non cardiac disease."
