I had the honor of recognizing Top Guard Security
Chris Stuart, the family business please come up.
[Applause]
Well, I don't know what the odds of this are after your presentation earlier, sir but
I am actually one of those very rare card carrying members
of people that have had their foot run over by a lawnmower
[Laughter]
Commissioner Rothrock: and you're doing real well might I add! [Laughter]
I wanted to accomplish three things really quickly
One is I wanted Mr. Ferguson to have to wait to come up here
so that he would have his own opportunity to walk up slowly
If everyone could give him a hand please as he's doing that?
[applause]
That is always more fun to do when you know someone is shy
[Laughter] Keith only receives 400 applications per week
and single-handedly whittled those down to
people who we are blessed to be able to offer opportunities to
so I wanted to thank you for that, because he is the individual that
single-handedly maintains our relationship with DRS.
We're really blessed to have someone who not only does those daily
activities, but also realizes how important a relationship like this is.
You'll probably after I mention this not find it surprising that we consider
DRS an amazing partner or an essential partner as our firm was founded by a
gentleman who, just three months before its founding was told that he had
muscular dystrophy in fact, the rarest form of muscular dystrophy
In fact, he was told to go home, and wait to pass away...
And that was in the late 70's he had four children at the time
and he was unemployed because the industry he worked in was transitioning.
Founded a security firm, and not only managed to raise and educate
his four children, but he was able to assist thousands of other individuals
in eleven states in two of the west territories currently we're blessed to
employ 550 people. And he did that solely based on will and determination.
And every individual that we've been blessed to offer a position to
through DRS has had those same attributes, so we've always felt we
received more, frankly, from the relationship than DRS did.
A final point is that I think that if you take a moment to relish what we're doing
today, we can actually take it for granted that there is now an agency
full of passionate people, that are helping communicate
between employers and employees that need each other
and that's a wonderful place to be in 2009, so thank you very much
for the honor, we are truly humbled and greatly appreciate the opportunity.
[Applause] [speech indistinct]
Commissioner Rothrock: Sorry about your foot.
[Laughter]
