Hello, this is Elizabeth Perez, owner of GC Green, based out of sunny San Diego and I'm
here tonight to give you the daily download of the Texas A&M boot camp for veterans program.
Today we talked about money. And we learned that cash is king and it takes money to start
a business, at least how to manage your money, at least know how to do that. And Dr. Loudder
was there today to tell us all about it. She gave us some insight on payroll and taxes
and bookkeeping. So there was a lot of information, handy information, that she gave us and then
shortly after that Merrill Lynch followed up with different ideas, once your company
is successful within the next five to ten years, hopefully, and how to invest your money
once you're successful. So there was a lot of insight there. And one thing I have to
say, thank God I married a CPA because it made my eyes cross.
But... in all reality, it was a lot of fun and thank goodness again that we have those
folks there to help us out with that.
Shortly after, we had a visit from PepsiCo and they were there to introduce their new
green machine. And the green machine is a recycling machine, I thought was really interesting,
got my attention. You know GC Green, green, you know the sustainability, so it was definitely...
I was definitely all ears about that. And we actually have a similar recycling machine
at Petco Park. So once you recycle a bottle or can, you're able to go online at the Pepsi
website and redeem your points for rewards, so I thought that was kind of neat.
And then right after that, we had a speaker from Ontra Companies and Mr. Stern and is
a... I believe retired army... an army veteran and he was able to give us some insight, and
a very successful entrepreneur by the way, he had some amazing stories and I definitely
learned the most, I think all of us learned the most, from a fellow veteran and a veteran
that has had experience in the corporate world and as an entrepreneur and gave us a lot of
insight and the dos and don'ts of business. So it was really great and love what he does
and giving back in to the community and I think that is really important as a business
owner, that you do give back and thank you Mr. Sterns for giving back. And speaking of
that, he gave us a year's subscription to the Entrepreneur magazine, so thank you again.
And then we, of course, followed up with more VA, rehab, rights and regulations with Ms.
Keeton and she was very helpful and insightful as well. And we were able to enjoy a beautiful
Texas barbeque at retired Lieutenant General Weber's house. And it was just wonderful weather,
nice Texas weather along with that barbeque.
But thank you for your hospitality and thank you again, Texas A&M, for the such an awesome
program and I can't wait, I absolutely cannot wait to go back home and be able to utilize
this. You know, after being in business for a year, this program is going to help me grow.
I do daily downloads with my... owners. Well they're not owners, but amongst the three
of us and we talk about everything I've learned today or yesterday or the day before about
this program and it absolutely is going to help us grow as a company and there is a lot
of information that just wasn't known and it's great. And programs like this get the
word out there. So thank you again and can't wait for tomorrow, another round. Goodnight.
