My name is RoseMarie Jones. I am a general surgeon who specializes in laproscopic and
bariatric surgery.
I have developed a personal sense of participation with the patient. I tell them, "like it or
not" because my goal is not to be your surgeon technically, but my goal is to be a person
in our bariatric center that works with you, the dietitians and psychologists to make this
be the most successful thing that you will ever do.
I've been a bariatric surgeon since my fifth year of practice, I think. So in the last
sixteen years, predominantly I've performed bariatric surgery in the context of a comprehensive
program. I have helped to develop the two leading programs in the city, and not only
have a sense of the technical part, but the individual parts that help the patient to
be successful, help the keep the complication rate low, and motivate them to achieve their
goals.
Community Health Network is a sense of family, just as the name implies. To me throughout
my career, it's been important as a practitioner to fell like I am part of a team, that we're
always working towards the same goal, which is the patient and their objective. And not
to feel like it' a hierarchy. I feel shoulder to shoulder with my colleagues in the bariatric
center and the operative rom. I think it not only gives me the ability to demonstrate to
our health care workers, what happens. They get a sense that as patients come back and
have been successful, that they have been a part of it. And it really helps that feeling
of being together and achieving something.
I am excited to help Community, having just received their center of excellence to develop
and grow the program, so that we can reach out to people all around the city and provide
the same excellent care.
