I am so appreciative of the work of Christians for Biblical Equality. I’m a solo pastor
of a small church and there are Sundays when people stop in as guests not knowing exactly
what to expect. When they see me in my robe they can be thrown off sometimes, wondering
what a woman is doing in the role. There was a time when I tried to take on every
conversation like that myself every Sunday morning. But I don’t have to do that when
I have CBE’s publications. I can share those with people. I know that I can trust them
that they are going to lead people through the Bible, through Scripture, through good
scholarship and help them understand what is there to be seen about God’s view of
women and men in Christ. It’s very important. I am so glad that CBE draws together men and
women who can support each other in the quest for biblical equality in the churches. It’s
important for every generation of women and men to understand this truth about God, that
we are all made in God’s image. I’ve seen young women be encouraged by the work of CBE.
I’ve seen older women be affirmed in their own desires to serve in leadership in the
church. That’s an important part of CBE’s work to me.
