SUNY: What's your name? Beth: I'm Beth Folta.
SUNY: Where are you from? Beth: I'm at the college of Environmental
Science and Forestry. SUNY: Where are you now?
Beth: I'm currently sitting in my office at ESF.
SUNY: What do you teach? Beth: I teach a variety of interpretive and
environmental education courses but specifically this semester I'm teaching interpretive design
and also advanced interpretation and certification. SUNY: Why do you teach that?
Beth: Both of them are part of our major which is the natural history and interpretation
major and one is a required course and one is an elective for the students. The interpretive
design course teaches people how to make brochures and write articles for the general public
talking about science topics. They also work with community partners so they create podcasts
and also exhibits for them so it's part of our outreach with science.
SUNY: That's awesome. And what advice do you have for us students?
Beth: With students it's always great to get as much experience as possible and that's
part of the reason why with both of my classes we work with community partners so they can
make connections and also get a chance to really work with the public like they would
in the real world. SUNY:That's awesome. Dr. Fulta thank you so
much for your time today. Beth: Thank you.
