He's...He says that I have a disability that is not very well understood. And so I think
it is great that he avoids being categorized. It just forces me to, when I talk about him
to be more descriptive when I talk about who he is. He loves to hike, he loves to listen
to music, he is a great reader and he is getting to be an incredibly great writer. And so that's
about as much as I can say about his disability. He is fighting with the administration at
the university, it seems like the people who are given the job of providing services to
the people with disabilities end up being some of the most prejudice and the most easily
acting on their prejudice. The woman who is the head of the disabilities services office,
knowing that he had been admitted to the university questions, still questions to this day the
validity of communication, and wanting to put him through tests and saying things like
you know we usually don't get people like you at this level, you know maybe you want
to try the community college. This is an unresolved issue at this point, she may... I hope she's
not successful and if she is successful in questioning the validity of his communication
and getting people to start second guessing themselves and second guessing him. There
is a group of people who use facilitated communication and they meet monthly, the last time they
met was last week on Thursday night and he was telling everyone about his experience
and saying the man I met with just really wanted to watch me type he did not really
believe that my words were not my own and one of the people in the group would say we
believe what you say. My son said when I hear that I know that I am continue to keep fighting
for my right to communicate.
