Quick Start Example - Part 4
Pipe Aging and Adding a Pump
Pressures and flows are labeled.
See the pipe roughness.
Let's look at the Pipe Type table.
Components menu.
Pipe Type table.
These are pipe descriptions...
material, diameter, and roughness.
This is a 10-year roughness value.
It allows the model to predict roughness values as pipes age.
Analysis menu.
Click Analyze.
Uncheck the box for "Use Current Year".
Enter a future year.
Current pressure = 39.9 psi
Click Analyze.
Pressure = 39.1 psi
Pressures and flows are reduced
due to change in pipe roughness.
Roughness values for year 2050
are shown in the Report.
Projected roughness values
Adjust roughness based on installation year.
New pipe roughness = 140
Enter year of pipe installation.
Notice the roughness has changed.
Add a pump.
Important: click the pipe at location of new node.
Insert Node icon.
Select Pump.
Pump is inserted where pipe was clicked.
Click Node Type and change to Pump - Power.
Enter pump data.
Elevation = 200 feet
Power = 40 HP
Efficiency = 75%
Analyze.
The pump has increased the pressures and flows.
