Few days ago Jan gave a sermon
for the first time.
He is not here today.
Perhaps he is seeing off his daughter at the airport.
The topic of Jan was his personal relationship with God.
I will continue this topic.
I speak about trust.
I think it is very important.
If we do not have trust,
we cannot have relation to something.
It is the first step to trust something.
Otherwise we do not want to do anything with it.
Trust is to do with reliability.
To relay on something.
Or we believe goodness in something.
It is an another way of formation.
To believe goodness in something is...
A researcher of children got an idea,
trust is a thing, which a child feels from the mother.
From a happy relationship, the child feel trust.
The mother does everything to fulfill needs of the child.
all children like this...
This is how it goes.
Picachoo. What do you say in Swedish?
What is it in Swedish? I do not know.
What did you say?
Peek-a-boo.
This I meant. I do not know it in Swedish. ("Tittut!")
Anyway, it is fantastic when we a young mother plays with her child.
Lukas and Linnea became extremely happy only with my eyes.
It looks like my face is absolutely the best, which they can see in this world.
Although you have a bad self-trust before,
you get quite a good self-trust. I realized.
It is a fantastic experience.
If you have not children yet, it is good to experience.
Anyway, I experienced that there is reliability and trust.
It begins in the relationship between a mother and her child.
It is very important.
Trust is a key concept.
Before I continue, I would like to show a book.
The cool Swedish trust.
Somebody researched about Swedish trust grade compared to international level.
In Sweden we have quite a high grade of trust,
because of the history or we have taken care of others.
But there are special places, namely, Sundbyberg and Malmö.
What is special with these?
Particularly in these two places in Sweden
They researched 33 municipalities.
Exactly here,
the grade of trust is the lowest in the whole Sweden.
I do not know where we are in a wrong place or a right place in the world.
We have to increase the trust.
Perhaps this kind of trust in not generally in Sweden but more local communities.
People feel something is wrong.
Therefore we have something to work with.
I would like to see more from our viewpoint, a religious aspect.
He is one of our early members, Young Hwi Kim.
He had a close relationship to rev. Sun Myung Moon.
It is well known in our movement.
He is used to talk about rev. Moon.
We know that God has been always trying to trust us.
He gives one more chance.
Actually many chances.
It has been always.
We have gotten chance after chance.
Rev. Moon acted in the same way.
It is a very important character he has.
He really trusted in other people.
This irritated many people.
He did like this.
He asked people to do something.
For example, he gave orders or a lot of money
to make a house, to make a church or to do something.
And we know, sometimes the person, who had received the money, did quite wrong,
or the money just disappeared.
And it failed and nothing happened.
And this person came back.
But Father did not say to the person that he did not do well and should go away.
Instead,
Father welcomed the person and comforted.
Father invested one more time.
Father did not give up with this person,
although this person had many wrongs, lacks and failures,
There was always one more chance.
Many members got angry.
Hans is nodding.
Why did he do in this way?
An effective organization cannot be managed in this way.
It is not possible.
It is a waste of both manpower and money.
But Father wants to trust in us.
Same as we shall trust in God.
We shall trust in Him. We shall trust each other.
Father does not teach us this concept of distrust.
But he carried on that we shall trust each other no matter what.
We have to restore this.
Young Hwi Kim said this.
And I think to continue reading what Young Hwi Kim has said.
He gave a speech 1985 to Japanese members.
I read what he speaks about trust.
Likewise we should have an attitude of trust.
Faith and trust are the same.
The mutual trust between God and man is the basis of trust among men.
Because faith in God is the basis of trust man not only lost faith in God through the fall,
but trust among men as well.
The world became a world of mistrust.
Where there is no trust there can be neither peace, cooperation nor unity.
To keep a promise or to feel we should do so has become strange or abnormal in this fallen world.
But true behavior is to keep a promise.
This is a fallen world, full of mistrust.
So how can we restore trust?
In order to be trustworthy, we must trust in God.
This is the first step.
If we can´t trust God and True Parents, we can´t trust anyone.
God is absolute, so if we can´t trust Him,
how can we possibly trust others?
We trust our parents and are all children of one parent,
so we should be able to trust each other.
We should establish such relationships with others that we can trust one another.
God wants us to do this.
If you are uneasy about trusting someone, something is wrong.
We must establish such relationships that we can be secure and calm when we trust someone.
And to the end.
How can we establish such relationships of trust?
Both parties must have a certain standard.
In order to establish such relationships of mutual trust
we must become men and women who possess the essence of God,
i.e. His heart, love and wisdom,
and we must know God´s word.
Here he talks that we should become people whom can be trusted.
But first, we have to trust in God.
This is the first step.
We should become people who trust in God.
Then we can restore relationships among us to trust each other.
This is something that has to be restored.
Jesus wondered on the earth.
Can you see the picture?
He encountered always conflicts whether people trusted in him or not.
Mistrust or trust.
This is the story meeting a Roman officer in Capernaum.
This Roman officer had a problem.
He had a servant, a boy at home, who was sick, paralyzed.
He was affected, of course, all of his household.
He came to Jesus to ask for a miracle.
At that time Jesus cured people.
People gathered around him.
There are different versions of this story.
One problem of this Roman officer was that he was a Roman.
He was not a Jude.
Another version says that Jesus told him why he came.
You do not belong to the Jewish people.
What does it mean?
But this officer insisted.
He felt somehow if someone could help his servant, this is Jesus.
The office had an enormous trust.
He said to Jesus;
“I am an officer.
I have many soldiers under me.
If I tell them to do this or that,
then it happens.
All soldiers just do what I say.”
“But you are Jesus. “
“You have the same power.”
“If you say, stand up and be healthy,
then I know, this servant will become healthy.”
“You do not need to come to my home.
It is OK.”
“You can say it now here.”
It moved Jesus very much.
Because Jesus confronted always with the conflict.
He went to his people but they did not trust in him.
Then he met this Roman officer, who was not sharing with Jewish faith,
but completely without condition asked Jesus just to give an order
then my boy will be healthy.
Jesus said, he has not found a faith on the earth.
This is fantastic.
Sometimes I think, this is a sign what would come after Jesus death.
Perhaps in this area of Middle East, faith did not develop strong.
But in the whole world faith developed for Jesus.
Christianity developed strongly.
Jesus shows here, the word has an enormous power.
And trust can move a mountain.
Faith has many aspects.
We can believe to have a deep knowledge about something.
We can have a spiritual knowledge.
This is one way of faith.
Or we have a strong vision.
We have a strong dream how the future will be.
This is also a strength. This is also a faith.
Or we can just follow our heart.
But trust is a special relationship, a special form of faith.
The concept is everything.
This is more to do with relationship between God and mankind than other aspects.
Therefore trust is a key concept.
We often see this picture.
I live in Kista.
When I want to buy milk or something,
I pass at least three beggars every day.
When I was young,
for example, I went to Gymansium,
we have some students from Södra Latin today,
or when I went to högstadiet,
I remember, Sweden was very different.
When we met somebody on the street, who really was in need of money,
There was no demand. It was not just only I.
something happened,
it was true, people really asked for money on the street, for something had happened.
It was not just I but
I remember, my classmate Anne thought in the same way,
although she had not directly Christian or religious background,
It was just...
There was a kind of trust.
This is what I want to say. Swedish society had trust.
If someone was really in need of help and expressed it,
it meant that they really needed a help.
Therefore it was just natural to help.
But something happened.
Just around when I was going to meet a friend somewhere in the city.
She was on at T-Central.
There she met a woman, who really needed money.
My friend take out money from the bank and helped her.
Then she met me and explained the whole story.
But she suddenly was freezed like a stone.
I remember it clearly.
I, too.
We realized, this was not a normal situation but
she was deceived.
Somebody took her money.
Although she did it with her free will, she was deceived.
I remember her glance.
I remember her word; “How stupid I am.”
We were not used to be deceived.
There had not been such.
Then there came up an issue;
if somebody needs a help, should we help?
Should we help? Can we trust them?
I remember after this incident,
I could clearly see people coming to me.
I looked like unusually wimpish.
I thought. Anyway.
Her we can deceive.
But I made choice deliberately for several years.
I know, these people deceive me. They are not true.
But for my own sake,
I want to trust.
I want the trust will survive.
I want the trust shall not die.
I choose to trust even though they lie.
I choose to trust these people.
I choose to help.
For a long period, I lived like this, regardless how people thought or what purpose they had.
I helped them, anyway.
Of course it is pity with these people, Romania, who do not have money.
But I am worried how it influences us, who pass by every day.
When we feel mistrust that there are no trust that they really need money.
This is something that really destroy us inside.
They have different kinds of problem.
I do not know how to solve them.
But it is also our spiritual problem, which we have to deal with.
We are going to discuss, today.
True Father said;
You must have a friend whom you can trust with a sincere heart in God´s stead.
Furthermore, you need siblings, parents and spouses whom you can trust on His behalf.
In so doing, you are to transcend the family to embrace the society, nation and world.
This was God´s cherished desire.
Yet, He drove individuals into situations of mutual distrust and despair of humanity in order for them to find faith in Him.
In this way, He wanted believers to come together as siblings and friends to forge bonds enabling them to trust each other on His behalf.
It is none other than this that was His greatest hope.
It is explained here, God´s dream is that we trust in Him completely, our Heavenly Parent.
But,
in order to realize it, we have to realize trust among ourselves.
We have to find people, whom we can trust.
Of course, children trust in their parents.
But we have to go beyond it.
We have to trust other people beyond our closest family.
Then we can expand it.
All borders will disappear.
This is a fight to find people to trust.
This has been the dream of God that we shall be able to trust people.
Here is an explanation how God has done.
Instead of sending people whom He could trust, He sent even more difficulties.
Really big troublesome, which made it really difficult.
Then we know whom we can trust or not.
Under such situations differences will become clear.
This is the strategy of God according to him.
It is the hope of God that we shall trust Him and trust each other.
Let’s us read the questions.
How are we be influenced by the lack of trust?
How can we increase our trust?
You may discuss with another question if you have.
We can start with these now.
We can make several groups as usual. One English group.
We will discuss for 10 minutes.
One in each group makes a note.
Then we will have a time for reporting of the discussion in each group
about this topic, trust.
You may exchange experience about trust or lack of trust and influences.
Thank you very much.
