Bandwidth redundancy
for backup bandwidth
Bandwidth redundancy
is important for all businesses,
because without backup bandwidth,
if your business loses your
primary bandwidth circuit,
you will lose contact with your customers.
Bandwidth redundancy
is available when a business
receives its bandwidth
from more than one source,
through varied transfer modes.
Many businesses seek bandwidth redundancy
because bandwidth downtime
is extremely expensive.
Today, internet, telephone and networking
are all completely dependent upon bandwidth.
It is common for T1, Ethernet,
DS3, DSL or Cable to run along
the same conduit from the Cable Company
or the Telephone Central office
to reach your business.
If an accident or natural disaster
breaks this connection,
you will probably lose your primary
bandwidth source.
Wireless bandwidth does not
enter your building along the ground,
like these services do;
it enters your building from the air,
independently.
When other types of bandwidth go down,
wireless continues
to provide your bandwidth.
Imagine a company that is
completely cut off from its customers,
its branch offices,
and its vendors for 4 hours,
or 2 days, a week, or even a month,
all because the primary land line
bandwidth circuit is severed.
Not only does this company
lose the business of customers
during the time of outage,
but they may also lose credibility
with their customers
for not being available when needed.
If customers cannot reach your business
during the outage,
do most customers simply sit
and wait for the outage
to be over? Or, do they seek other businesses
which are available
and can meet their needs immediately?
The most expensive aspect of bandwidth outages
might be the permanent
loss of your valuable
customers to your competitors.
Another significant cost
of lack of circuit redundancy
is the cost of employees sitting idle,
because they are cut off
from customers and vendors
outside of your company.
What will be the cost of 100
or even 1000 employees
sitting idle for just one day?
If your copper or fiber bandwidth
is severed, fixed wireless
serves as an excellent back up,
because it enters your business
from a completely different source,
and a completely different area of your building.
