My name is Cornelia Ernst
I’m member of the German Left Party and
so I’m am member of the United Left
in the EU-Parliament.
2009 I came into the Parliament
and I landed where I expected -
in the committee for Civil Liberties,
Home Affairs, where I work on matters of migration and asylum
The Roma-questions were an important subject of mine
and then also data-protection, data-protection, data-protection.
It’s no secret that we as the United Left Party
support all 10 Points of the Digital Rights Charta
but one point is especially important to me:
it’s point 5.
Because we were fighting strongly
against the mass surveillance of citizens.
It’s unbelievable, that people get
spied on with no reason
and that the right to free communication and the freedom of opinion get restricted.
And it’s also unthinkable that by this
protection of sources and witness protection get depraved.
In these actions we see an attack on the rule of law -
by restraining our freedoms
for this ominous security,
you won't get a more secure world!
That’s what I stand for -
I can promise that for the next legislative period!
