Dispatch is more of a movement, I think
then ever before.
We felt the music is the most effective way
to get people involved in different causes.
They talk about important things
in their music.
They have a message in their music
it speaks to their fans and
you've seen it already, their fans gather
together to make the change happen.
We gotta tell the story and we gotta
invite people to come with us and then
turn it loose. And eventually we'll turn the tide.
Music's an amazing way to gather community
We love being involved in just music
but I think that the touring experience felt a little empty
And so we were trying to figure out how to engage the other interest of ours.
The three of us have always been really interested in
how we can leverage our music as we're trying to figure out
what we believe in and how to serve the underserved.
We really wanted to do more than just sing about it.
So then it was kind of a no brainer to try to open it up and actually
get our hands dirty and do service with fans along the road
before the shows.
The fans that are all about the music but also
about just giving themselves away and giving back.
I've been listening to them since I was like in middle school
so it's really cool that I get to tour with them now.
I'm gonna try to fit my entire life into this backpack
Love you!
You be good!
I think it's gonna be awesome just to get out there
and get my hands dirty again.
Extremely fulfilling.
I can't wait to meet the fans that are coming with us.
All of a sudden you have a bus trailing right behind us
full of the coolest people you can imagine.
Who put their lives on hold to actually come on the road with us
it's just very cool.
I'm Brad.
Meeting Dispatch, it seemed relaxed, it seemed natural
the guys just walked into the bus.
They're all awesome.
Just about to get off the bus at the service project!
Who's excited?
So let's go do this business!
Let's do it!
My name is Sue Carparelli and I'm the CEO of Florence Crittenton Services
We have in this setting a four year high school
and the high school serves exclusively young women who have become pregnant
or are actively parenting their children.
And I can't tell you how grateful we are to have you here today
When I dropped down the florescent light casings
there was a lot of bugs, there was like this little
dust coming off the things and I was getting all f*cked up
off the dust. Bugs in the light fixtures, like smoke
would come off their wings and that was the best sh*t.
This is Doug, the manliest man you will ever see!
We built a raised flower bed, just a lot of area beautification
so they can come back to a positive learning environment.
I'd say they're probably thirty or forty fans that came out
we worked for four or five hours, and I mean
yeah, we accomplished a lot, it was really cool.
Thank you, fellas!
I'm proud of Dispatch because of the way we've been able to access
fans to do service across the nation.
It so amazing to be able to do that during the day and have an experience
and then that night, in that same city, you go to that stage and in the corner
of the crowd you see the ABTers and you smile at them because you know
you were just painting the inside of a school together
and here you are, in a totally different setting that's
equally as fun in its own way and it just f*cking gets you pumped.
The reservation was mind boggling.
I had no idea, I had no expectations.
Going in, it just blew me away how different their lifestyle was than mine.
