Hello and welcome!
With Photomap you can see your photos on map and add location to your photos.
I am going to show you how to use Photomap in this short video.
Let’s go to www.geotagger.us and then
click directly on Photomap link in the top menu.
To start using Photomap, you must accept its terms of use.
Scroll all the way down and click Accept terms of service.
Next you will see the tutorial.
It’s pretty cool, but for now, let’s skip it.
Let us wait a bit while Photomap is loading,
it shouldn’t take long.
Depending on your system configuration, you may see various security prompts.
Here Java asks you to run Photomap.
Select this checkbox and click Run.
Alright, here it is.
To begin, I am simply dragging these photos to the map.
Notice green progress bar below,
it is displayed when photos are loaded to Photomap.
It is very fast because Photomap never uploads any photos over the Internet
and your photos always stay on your computer.
Geotagged pictures are displayed on map as small markers.
You can click the markers to select photos,
and if you hover your mouse over the marker,
the photo appears briefly in the Preview pane.
Preview pane on the left shows preview and details for selected picture.
On the display below there are image details from EXIF.
You can toggle display modes by clicking this button.
Photos loaded to Photomap are displayed in the Filmstrip below as small thumbnails.
If the photo has a geotag, there will be this small blue icon.
You can scroll the Filmstrip back and forth with your mouse wheel.
Photomap can also add or edit geotags.
To switch to Editing mode, just click EDIT button.
Notice the green light indicating we are in the Editing mode.
Let us take this picture without geotag.
I know this photo with the view of Empire State Building
was taken from Fifth Avenue near Thirty Sixth street.
Let me browse the map to this point.
OK, here it is.
Now I can simply drag the picture on map or just double-click it
and it will be placed on the center of map.
Okay, it missed its correct location a bit,
so I am simply dragging the marker to its correct position.
Notice that light over EDIT button turned red
indicating there is unsaved changes.
The red dot over the image’s thumbnail says which image has been edited.
By the way, we can even check if we placed the photo on map at the right place.
Let us switch to Street view, and see if the view is right.
Yes, here it is.
It looks like we got the right view.
Let us switch back to map view.
You can also adjust location of the photo with geotag
by simply dragging its marker to desired position on the map.
Also, you can remove geotag, simply click on GPS logo.
Photomap will ask you to confirm, click Yes.
With Photomap, you can also add or edit picture’s title and description.
Once we finished editing pictures, to save changes we made
we need to exit Editing mode.
Photomap asks if I really want to save changes.
Please note that changes you made will be saved only if you clicked Yes on exiting Editing mode.
Otherwise, for example, if you close your browser, the changes will be lost.
Now you can see how it is easy to add location to your photos.
Make sure to check our publications section,
there we have some important materials on using geotags
and about how to stay safe when posting your pictures over Internet.
Thank you for watching, and have fun with Photomap!
