Good morning, I'm Neveen Shalaby.
We are in Abu Regala, which is threatened with demolition.
Because of the garbage you find many insects here.
It is dangerous for children because of the railway that passes through it.
In every family someone suffers from a chest disease.
There is garbage in front of us, behind us and everywhere.
But we still thank God.
My chest hurts a lot. -How come?
Because of the smoke.
I am Eman Shaaban Hegab, I'm a 42-year-old widow.
My husband suffered for two years and four months before he died.
He had cancer in his larynx, vocal cords and thyroid...
because of the pollution and garbage here.
After my husband's death nobody helped me.
Then I decided to sell coffee and tea for a living.
And now they are threatening to demolish the area and throw us out.
I have five kids. Two are here and the other sick girl is inside.
Look at the way we live.
Look at our furniture. That's it.
Look, I've built this many times but it's still not safe.
Don't be afraid, it doesn't hurt.
This is a stove, but it doesn't work.
There is a big rubbish dump behind us, that's why there are all these flies.
The government dumped this rubbish. We are surrounded by garbage.
Where are the eggs?
There is no water and no electricity.
We tap these illegally.
Today I have to wash clothes and then cook.
Switch it on, dear.
On Friday I wash the clothes and cook a nice meal for my kids.
That's my role as a mother. I am both father and mother to them.
All week I go to work as a father, and Friday I'm here for my kids.
I really care about my kids. I must be both a father and a mother to them.
Mum.
Please go to your sick sister and see what she wants.
If these scissors were any good I would get this done more quickly.
These scissors are better.
The government should leave us alone or give us new homes.
More than 4000 families have the same problems.
I am not the only widow here. There are many of us.
We only get a pension. How can you live on 160 pounds?
I got 160 pounds eight months after my husband died.
This is my daughter Omnia. She's five.
She has had severe pneumonia since she was 18 months old.
We went to the hospital for X-rays.
We discovered she had chronic pneumonia.
It's because of the smoke and garbage.
Why do we live like this?
The doctor said: You need fresh air, not pollution.
But I still thank God.
And now they want to evict us. Where can we go?
Look at how the people here get water. They have to get it from far away.
