In my hand are a set of tongs. Now, you are going to need these tongs to pick up your
print as you are printing. And, there are a couple of different kinds of tongs out there.
These, these really are my favorite. They are stainless steel. They are a little harder
to use than your standard bamboo tongs that they sell. And, I like these better because
they are interchangeable. And, you can, you know what you do is you just, after you are
done with these tongs you just wash them off and you hang them up. And, you do not have
to remember what solution each tong was in previously because they are stainless steel.
They wash off very nicely. One thing that is extremely important when you are doing
darkroom work is to not use your hands. I cannot stress enough. There is nothing worse
than picking up prints and getting your hands immersed with chemistry. You will have yellow
fingernails and nasty smelling hands in a very small amount of time. So, even though
these are sort of a pain to use at first, almost all of my students eventually get the
hang of it after a few sessions and really begin to like these. So, use your tongs. Try
to get the stainless steel ones and never use your hands.
