In my PhD I'm aiming to develop therapies and also prevent the
progression of this disease called fatty liver disease which is highly
prevalent in our society.
I did my undergraduate studies in the
Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences
at the University of Melbourne and I did it in medicine.
I chose the University of Melbourne to do my PhD because I knew
it was a leading university worldwide for PhD studies.
My supervisors are Professor Peter Angus
at the liver transplant unit at Austin Hospital
and also Associate Professor Josephine Forbes at the
Baker IDI Diabetes Institute.
I'm a hepitologist as well as doing a PhD and in my clinic
I'm seeing a lot of patients with fatty liver disease
or too much fat in the liver.
I'm looking at this disease as it's so common in our society,
affecting almost half of our population.
The great thing about doing my undergraduate course and PhD here
is that the Parkville precinct is very centrally located.
It allowed me to collaborate with multiple other researchers
in various other centres in striving for a very common goal
and I knew that it had connections both locally and nationally,
as well as internationally to further my research.
