I was 12 years old when the 1994
Northridge earthquake hit. It started with a very sudden
intense jolt, that practically threw us up
into the air, out of our beds, and my sister
started screaming really loud and ran out of the room.
There was a lot of big booming noise, and a lot of
glass crashing to the floor, all types of items
hitting the ground from shelves and tables, and
I remember staying put and not exactly understanding
what was going on at the time, because to me
it felt very interesting, and almost fun,
kind of like some type of a carnival ride.
