Granola
Hey everyone, it’s Chad here from FITera and today I want to talk to you
about granola – as it’s always had a reputation for being a health food… in fact, we get
new clients all the time that say they’re eating healthier – such as granola for breakfast
instead doughnuts - but still not losing weight…
BUT most store-bought granola is really high in
fat, sugar, and calories – and the source of fat is usually the kind that’s really
bad for your heart, such as hydrogenated oils.
But, if you make your own, it can be loaded with
beneficial nutrients that are packed with fiber, vitamins and minerals, and good sources
of healthy fat, which can actually improve your cholesterol and heart health.
So,
I’m excited to show you my much healthier granola recipe, which is 100% FITera approved
– meaning it’s: Healthy and effective
Quick and easy No hard to find or expensive ingredients (in
fact many of the ingredients you can find in bulk)
And absolutely delicious. All you need is:
• 4 cups regular dry rolled oats • ½ pumpkin (or sunflower) seeds, shelled
• 1/2 cup slivered (or crushed) almonds (or other nuts)
• ¼ cup flaxseed • 2 tablespoons sugar-free maple syrup
• 1/2 cup unsweetened apple juice • 1 tbsp coconut oil
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Now, to make it, simply…
1. Preheat oven to 350°.
2. Combine oats, flaxseed, nuts and pumpkinseeds in a large bowl.
4. Heat coconut oil in microwave for 30 seconds and then whisk together oil, maple syrup, apple juice, and
vanilla in a small bowl and toss with dry ingredients.
5. Spread on a large wax-paper-lined baking sheet and bake until golden brown, stirring
occasionally, 20-25 minutes. 6. Remove from oven, let cool completely
It tastes amazing, full of fiber, healthy fat, and other beneficial nutrients… and
