Triple Helix is actually a concept
of the interaction
among three institutions.
Is about interaction the relationship
between these three parties.
Is an idea to promote innovation
through cooperation and collaboration
among university, industry and government.
In this 10th Triple Helix International Conference
with the main theme is
Emerging Triple Helix models
for developing countries
from conceptualization to implementation.
Excellencies, honorable, and distinguish guests
ladies and gentlemen.
Allow me to inform you,
that the conduction of the 10th Triple Helix Conference
is one of the activity under an integrated program
called The National Technology Awakening Day.
Or HAKTEKNAS.
What I hope to learn from this
is really how developing countries can benefit from the Triple Helix.
By organizing this conference
we can learn from other countries
how to implement the concept of Triple Helix
into practice.
I proposed this one.
Meta-innovation and ideal form of Triple Helix.
In which leadership comes from all spheres.
University, industry, government, and all levels.
Top-down, bottom-up, laterally.
And it basically means that
university can not do innovation by itself
neither can government or industry.
But together, they can do more by cooperating.
Than, each can do separately.
That's the role of the Triple Helix in innovation
to research, analyze, theorize
but also to play a role
in implementation, policy information and practice. Thank you.
I think we living in the edge of innovation acceleration.
Innovation doesn't mean much
unless you solve
a problem that's relevant
for human beings.
So, using this technology, you can see
what is going on in your brain.
With this technology of data acquisition system
we're able to detect
a percentage of
as low as 0.5%.
I believe when it comes to innovation
it is always the ecosystem that matters.
It is not one particular pillar, but the whole ecosystem.
Solutions of the problems
are coming mainly from the company not from the university
or at least that this 50:50. This is one point.
This is our task I think as policy maker to identify the problems.
But not only to identify the problems.
We have to implement the drivers.
Innovation is important, happy life is more important.
What we want at the end?
We want innovation to make people happy.
This year, we more interested to
make prototyping for city car and electric car.
Another issue that is come up is
a complexity related to intellectual property regulations.
Indonesia is doing
is participating in that
general globalization process, but not so strongly as the other countries are.
We see a dynamism
around here.
The fact that Indonesia within the Asian countries
is a very important hub.
It is a very important country in its own right.
I think we are ready.
You know, we are on the process.
I heard today is about 25 countries have listed
this conference.
People from different countries,
Who are working on Triple Helix ideas and projects
to meet, form new collaborations.
And in the third day we will have ASEAN ministerial panel.
So, ASEAN ministers or their representatives are coming here
and sharing their
experience, sharing their conditions
in their respective countries in ASEAN.
On behalf of the Institute of Technology Bandung
I would like to sincerely thanks
each one of you
for your very active
participation and significant contribution
to this Triple Helix 10th International Conference 2012.
And I hope is that when this
conference is over, there were lessons learnt.
There are numbers of senior
policy advisers from
different government, not just Indonesia,
from the ASEAN countries here.
So, the hope is that this
diffusion of information would go through
and would take these ideas and
turn them into policies for the future.
