[Music Playing: Zedd “Clarity”] Lip Syncing: 'Cause you are the piece of me
I wish I didn’t need
Chasing relentlessly,
Still fight and I don’t know why
If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love’s insanity, why are you my clarity?
Hi, Kristin and Dannielle.
I lovelovelove you guys and your videos. [laughing]
Anyway, I know this sounds kind of weird to ask, but I’m scared that because I’m gay I’m going to go to hell,
and I want to know what your thoughts are on that.
Thank you so much, you guys are amazing.
[Singing] Tell me all your thoughts on God,
‘cause I’d really like to meet her.
I think a lot of people kind of think, “oh, I am, um, I’m gay and Christianity doesn’t accept that so I’m casting that off,
and I will find something else, or I won’t find anything at all.”
When that’s not necessarily what you have to do, in my opinion.
To me, everything I’ve ever read having to do with Christianity,
or Islam, or Judaism, or Buddhism, all of the central tenets of those religions are, like, love one another, love yourself, love.
And so I can’t understand how there would be a hell, personally.
I think that if I’m living my life through love, and I’m focused on love and kindness, and treating others the way I want to be treated,
and treating the Earth kind, and my body kind, and yadda-yadda,
I think that if it comes down to it and someone else was right and there is a heaven and there is a hell and I get to the pearly gates,
and God’s like, “you were gay…”
and I’m gonna be…and he looks me in the eye and I’m like, “but I mean…” and then he’ll be like “eh, you lived a pretty good life, though.”
I also know that I don’t know.
I could be right, I could be wrong. You know?
My entire way of thinking could be completely wrong.
God could be up there being, like, “listen, I told you not to eat shellfish!
What the eff are you doing?” Boom. You’re in hell.
Dannielle: Yeah.
And I say it, like, jokingly, because I don’t understand how that could be true.
How those things could be true.
How me meeting another human being, falling in love with that human being, and wanting to be with that human being could ever be a bad thing,
but I’m just a person. There’s no way that anyone can tell you they know where you’re going, ‘cause they don’t.
And there’s no way that we can ever know where we’re going.
We can only do in our every day life what makes us comfortable, and what makes us feel good.
Um, so I think that’s what you need to seek for for yourself.
Rather than worrying about what’s going to happen after you die,
you need to think about how your actions make you feel today, and why they make you feel like that.
I think that faith is a beautiful and incredible thing, um, but there isn’t just one.
And there’s a reason that there isn’t just one.
So, find what works for you, and what’s important to you, and live your life the way that makes you feel the most amazing.
