It is said that on certain occasion Michelangelo visited a quarry to search along the blocks
of marble which had broken off the mountainside, for the one that was destined to be the figure
of David, the same figure which the great sculptor had already conceived in his imagination
and which would later be shaped by his arms to the eternal glory of the renaissance art.
The same sources tell us that Buonarroti did not relent in his effort until he found the
appropriate piece, the mother stone. Some of those contemporaries consider such an action
an extravagance one only excusable an artist of such magnificent.
Five centuries later this company shares the same criteria and understands perfectly the
anxiety of the great renaissance sculptor, we know just as he knew that the excellence
of the finished work depends decisively on the quality of the raw material initially
chosen, like Michelangelo we analyze carefully the materials available in our quarries until
we find those best fitted to the product which we are going to manufacture.
Our experience of more than 40 years in the marble and natural Stone sector has taught
us that in order to get the customer full satisfaction it is essential to have a guaranteed
source of supply, for this reason a fundamental principle in our business strategy has been
to have our own quarries which guarantee us abundant good quality stone. Having quarries
in the provinces of Almeria, Alicante, Murcia, Valencia and Albacete enables us to deliver
within specified time limits and also to ensure a quality control in a wide and diversified
range of product.
The working of the limestone which is used in Crema Nova and Crema Europa is carried
out in the Almirez mountains, situated in the municipal district of Lorca, Murcia. In
the mid nineteen eighties we began our work in these quarries, at the present time they
occupy an area of 200.000 square meters, their extensive reserves amount to more than 8 million
cubic meters of limestone, from these quarries two shades of stone are extracted, Crema Europa,
a bright cream color within a regular pattern which gives it a certain feeling of movement
and Crema Nova, a darker cream which is uniform and homogeneous. Based on previous figures
for the exploitation of these reserves we hope to obtain approximately 33 million square
meters of finished product. Even if we achieved our maximum sales expectations, the lifetime
of the quarry will easily last another fifty years, last guaranteeing supply for all kinds
of projects, from the most modest to the most ambitious.
