It's one of his most famous stunts, and now Dynamo has revealed where the idea for walking
on the Thames came from.
I was about nine or ten years old and some boys in the estate that grew up on used to
throw me into the dam. Where I lived, there's like a big downhill. There was Dartford Estate,
Woodside Estate and stuck between the two was a big dam. And they'd throw me in the
dam and this was before I learned how to swim. So I used to always flail around. They
always would get me out. They thought it was funny. I thought I was going to die. But I
always wished I could walk on water back then, and I kind of made it a lifetime ambition
of mine, you know, when I decided magic was what I wanted to do.
Stephen Frayne having the last laugh as he's done rather well for himself since. Mixing
with the rich and famous, but still finding fame hard to get used to.
I jump out of the car to go to the cash machine, and there's a big queue and then I turn around
and no one's actually waiting for the cash machine. They're just waiting to see me.
They always say stuff like: oh, what is it? Can't you just magic the money out? You know,
can you magic some money out for me as well please Dynamo?
So it is random. I do have to pinch myself at times.
So what next?
I'm always thinking of ideas, but for me, magic is all about the element of surprise,
so I want to keep some of those for now, and you'll get to see them and be surprised later.
Continuing to push himself to the limits, which isn't always easy on his team.
When Jessica Ennis, you can see it on DVD, when she stuck a javelin through me. They
thought that was a bit dangerous. It was. I wouldn't recommend it. I wouldn't try it
at home ever. Like, it hurts a little bit. But you know, I like to tell them, I'm a trained
professional, and no Dynamos were harmed in the making of this show.
Just one fear..
I don't like being under water because I'm a bit scared of sharks.
Dynamo's aversion to scary creatures that enjoy taking bites out of you apparently not
extending to Simon Cowell.
Simon Cowell is
stupidly intelligent and knows far too much about everything. I'm quite jealous of Simon
Cowell.
But I'm on mainstream TV, so we're doing all right.
So Simon, I'm coming for you! Mr. Cowell.
Words that will no doubt do little to scare Simon either.
