Hey guys! As always, DaganMind
And today, I'll explain how to create
FIRE
with After Effects so...
INTRO!
Well, to create fire we'll use a Trapcode plugin called Particular
You can download a demo directly from Redgiant.com
and this plugin will be usefull for almost everything:
from text, to particle effects, explosions, rays....
So, buy it, or try the demo directly from the website.
Ok, let's move to AfterEffects
Let's create: new layer, solid, black... and rename it "Background"
Then create another new layer, always solid, rename it "fire" and choose orange or any color to distinguish it from the background
So that looking on the layer list you'll be able to recognize them quickly
Let's select the "fire" layer, scroll down to effects
Trapcode, Particular!
So you'll notice right away that the effects begins after a while
So, move on the timeline the effect towards the start, and stretch it back to the right side, so that it starts right away.
Now we'll have to change a few things:
Change the emitter from Point to Box
We don't care about the emitter size
we don't care
we don't care
we don't care at all
Later, we'll change "Particle per second"
As for now, let's scroll up, "Particles"
"Life" = 1,5 , "Life Random" lets set it to 25.
Nooooow, "Size" = 3
"Sphere Feather" = 80
eeeeeeehm
"Size over life", let's make them start big and become small
Let's do the same thing with the Opacity, here and here
It's not raining
Now scrolling down we have: Shading.... Nothing... Phisics... eeeehmm.... just a second...
Gravity = -1000, this will make the particles flow towards the top
Then we have: under the window "Air", oper "Turbulence Field", or how the f**k you pronounce it
eeeeehmmmm...
Let's change: "Affect Size".... no my bad.... "Affect Position" to 250
And on Y, Offset let's do "alt"+clic on the stopwatch and write: time*-500
***!
So that for every second of the video we'll have a different number, for example: frame 4? 4*(-500)
Numbers that grow from frame to frame
This will move casually the particles on the Y axis
Ok we're done here... we don't need the "Aux System"...
"Rendering", yes, and we also have "Motion Blur", now i'll explain the difference
So activating the "Motion Blur" from the left bar, ON, you'll see that he will blur only the particles
Instead, if you' activated from the tool bar on top of the layer list, he'll blur of the whole layer, even the empty parts being a complete layer.
Complete in the sense that it has a perimeter... an end!
It's not infinite... on the right or on the left
So, with cmd+Z you go back one step, you don't need to turn on the whole layer blur, I used it only to explain the difference
Motion Blur, ON, and then increase the Shutter Angle up to.... approximately.... 520
Very well, now the most important step:
There are two values that are proportional, they are inversely proportional
These two values are: Particle and Size
Size regulates the dimension of the particles
The smaller the particles and the greater the number, will increase the quality of your effect
So i'll set the size to 1,7 and I'll put 30.000 of them
TADADADAAAAAN
Perfect, Perfect
I move the position more or less in the low center of the frame
And due to the amount of time that it takes, and the fact that if I go on like this it will take forever
Il bring down to 20.000 the number of particles
Before my computer freezes
This done, we're at a good point.... everything fine here.... here.... we should be almost there....
The last thing I want to change, is the "Complexity" in the section "Turbulence Fielde".... where was it... Ok...
I'd bring it up to 8
***!
And..... PRRRRRR.... we should be done! OK!
Now, we have the basics for our effect, we have facebook notifications, from Kaio... and I avail of this moment to say hello!
Let's go up, "Blur & Sharpen", ShirpenSharpenShurpenSHARPEN! Let's clic on:
"Fast Blur", and set it to 5, no 4!
"Effects", "Color Correction", "Colorama", and now to avoid that red thick stroke, change the Input to "Alpha" (later I'll explain)
On output, let's change the label to "Fire", and regulate the colours of our fire
E.g.: I don't like the lower and whiter part, so I add some yellow, I want to see more black....
and I'll pull the yellow a bit nearer. In this way, with a quick rendering.....
Very weel, in the meanwhile the fire renders, I wanted to inform you that I'll be doing a video a week, every Tuesday
Where the first week I'll post a Photoshop tutorial, the second an After Effects tutorial, the third I'll release a free project
and the fourth will be totally random! It could be a chat, a new tutorial, a video that I made for some contest, or of my choice
So every Tuesday, at 3p.m. (Rome GMT+1), a new video on my channel
YEAH!
Going back to AfterEffects... TANANANANAAAAN... OK
It rendered a bit... have a look... the effect is really sweet
REMINDER: The smaller the particles, the bigger number of them, higher will be the quality of the effect
So, the tutorial on fire is over... PERFECT!
Now this fire can be used for anything, you can put it on a torch that in a take is not lit, to make it seem on fire
Or, in an even dumber way, you can pretend to have some superpowers, like fire coming from your hands, or from your head
As in this video that I took of my brother just for laughing...
So, I hope you liked the tutorial, if you liked it, continue supporting me subscribing, sharing and commenting...
And see you next week, with a new free project that I'll be releasing for you!
Yo guys!
