[announcer] This year’s recipient of the “24 Hours in the Canyon”
goes to Connor Lyons. [applause]
Connor's been diagnosed with a rare malignant cancer…
>>I’m not real fast, but I still have fun and it’s for a good cause.
It’s to raise money for cancer.
And it goes to, like, the Don and Cybil Harrington
and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
>>Had a pretty radical surgery.
Going through chemo right now.
I have the gorgeous haircut to prove it.
[applause]
>>There’s some of those people out there
that have no arm up to their shoulder, you know.
And they’re still able to ride a bike or skateboard and stuff.
So, yeah, with my one arm I figured I can do that.
[announcer] 24 hours in the canyon. Are you ready?!
[cheers] Go! They're on their way. 24 hours in the canyon!
[music: "If I could walk 500 miles..."]
>>I found that, it’s not just me in the world.
There’s everybody else, 7 billion people.
And it makes you feel small.
But, you know, doing achievements like riding all night,
doing that just makes you feel just a little bit bigger in the world.
[announcer] This is the 7:00 o'clock hour. [applause]
We’re riding in honor of Theresa Brader.
>>Those guys that rode all 24 hours, I...
I just think that’s incredible.
I was able to make it to about 10
when I just fell over and then just didn’t move and slept.
In the previous year, I did 231 miles.
So 300 miles was a huge accomplishment for me.
[music]
>>Like I said, I'm gonna shoot for the MS 150.
And once I accomplish that, it’s just one more step
to being like my dad.
