Fore!!!
As in for crying out loud
were spending a fortune on all this grass.
Stay Cheap
Hey! I'm Jeff Yeager the ultimate cheapskate and host of the Cheap Life. Americans spend a whopping
40 billion dollars every year on lawn care.
It's *** your wallet and it's *** the environment.
Save money and help mother nature by letting your lawn fertilize itself.
Use a mulching lawn mower and leave the grass clippings on the lawn to
decompose.
Heck! That alone provides more than half the nutrients a healthy lawn needs.
If you are going to fertilize test the soil first to figure out what! If anything, your lawn
actually needs. Get the most green for your buck by gently watering after
feterilizing.
And, avoid applying any lawn treatments before a heavy rain. Or
on dry, windy days.
Watering your lawn or garden early in the
morning and mowing with super sharp blades will keep your lawn healthier while
using less water. Keeping the grass a bit longer helps to choke out weeds while requiring less
frequent watering.
You might need a cheapskate intervention if you think that fica is a kind of
house plant that always dies
two weeks after you buy it.
You might need a cheapskate intervention if you own both a riding lawnmower and a treadmill.
It's time for a cheapskate shout out!
This week's shout out goes to the face book group grow food not lawns, for their
creative ideas on turning your lawn into a bountiful garden patch.
Converting at least part of your lawn to a vegetable garden can take a
delicious bite,
out of your grocery bill.

Jeff: You might need a cheapskate intervention if you declare your houseplants as
dependents on your tax returns.
Mulching over part of a lawn or planting a low maintenance ground cover instead
will cut down on lawn care time and cost's. Or try "xieroescaping" which is a special
type of landscaping that uses drought resistant plants, stones and other materials
instead of water loving grass. I''m Jeff Yeager for the Cheap Life! Stay cheap, but
stay off my lawn!
