This is C.J. South representing expertvillage.com. In this clip I am going to show you how to
use the filter controls. Like I said in the last clip, each of these filters has there
own unique set of parameters to them so let's go ahead and learn how to use those unique
ones. They have their own graphical visual and numerica controls which include sliders,
points, angle controls and clips and also color controls. Some filters such as the color
corrector, the three-way and chromocear have alternate visual controls that you can use
to modify their effects. So the parameters set with visual controls are mered with the
numerica controls and vice versa. So if I like up here at the top for garshon blur,
if I slide the bar you will notice that the number next to it moves in correlation with
it. If I change this number to say 10, the slider moves along with that so they are just
kind of connected to each other. There mered each other. So let's first deal with sliders.
You know by defaults sliders only show with integer values so you know it only goes up
by one whole integer. So you'll have 20, 21, 27 but if you want to get more specific, more
precise with it, all you have to do is hold down the shift key while dragging and you
see now it goes to points. So you have a bit more precise of control over it and then you
can hold down the command key while moving it and it actually slows down your movements
so that you can get more precise. Sometimes when you are just dragging and moving it around,
it is really hard to get a specific number you want. You normally land on every number
around it but the one you want. So by holding command it will go 1 x 1 or 1 x 2, it goes
a lot slower. It cranks it down for you. Now you also have point controls. The point controls
are like setting a point. Point control is used to specify locations on the canvas. So
you can use numbered values for X and YX if you need what you want or your can use the
point tool. So let me go ahead and pull the filter that would have and we will just go
into mat here and bring 4. garbage mat. Okay if you notice here you have these little plus
sign buttons. These are the point controls. So I can click on that and go over to my canvas.
Now wherever I click that point now becomes. You can also set numerical values to the point
but I don't know what numerical values are. I just basically grab a point and plop it
in. So I am just going to go ahead and get rid of that but that is how you use the points.
