Everyday LSS employees walk through hundreds of doorways.
But they are not just arriving at work,
they are entering the center of impact in their communities.
It's not just a job,
it's an opportunity we have to care for and share in the lives of people who greatly need
and appreciate our presence.
Here are just a few of those stories.
Yami and I are one family that LSS has helped.
I personally enjoy working here for LSS
and doing what I do because
I like doing a lot of the behind the scenes stuff
and while we are directly connected with
why children end up having success stories,
we don't take the shine away from them.
We can set back and acknowledge that we were a big part
in why that person became successful
and we can still lay low beneath the radar.
We're here for the kids but I think LSS
their workers also support us, too,
in our struggles that we go through on a daily basis.
And it's kind of nice that you can pick up the phone
and vent a little bit...
and say, "I'm having a little issue over here..." and they actually listen to you.
Can I have a hug? Aww...Can I have a kiss? Can I have a kiss? Thank you.
When I came from Africa, I had a mentality of survival.
It was really challenging for me,
not only to come here to the U.S.
and be by myself but to come here with a sick mother who couldn't care for me...
and to adjust to the system and to go through
teenage years and all that stuff.
When I graduated from the program, I felt that I was accomplished as an adult;
that this program has created a mature,
self-confident adult. I wanted to be a part of that because I knew how much it has helped me.
I wanted every other young person
who might have been in my shoes before
to benefit from the same thing.
LSS helped me
to learn English
and find a job.
Yep, Shane and I do fun things like softball games and basketball, too. When he's at the game, he's in the dugout with us...
he'll be in the team pictures...he has a good time.
Love being outside, right? Love being outside, I do.
I know the interpreters here pretty well,
and feel comfortable that they are communicating what I'm saying and how I'm saying it.
I feel that it offers something to the patient when someone can speak to them in their language
and can help me clearly explain things to them that I otherwise wouldn't be able to do.
I am living in this cozy apartment,
I am a part of this community, and I love it!
She's very caring, very considerate,
and most of all, she's a very good friend.
That is the one thing a person has to have.
I love my job. I love working with people. I like one on one - she just makes it easy...
like it's not work. I like taking care of people.
You do it their way,
because it's their life.
It's all about them. You put them first, and you do it for them. And then you can be
fulfilled.
