Okay, on this clip we're going to talk about foam core or white boards. These can be used
as reflectors, they can be used as tabletops, they can be used as gobos. What we're going
to do with this now is I'm going to turn this one simple light source we have over here
which is a soft box reflecting into this bottle, we're actually going to use the foam core
as a second light source. As you look at the bottle, you'll see exactly what this does
as we bring this in. See how that opens up the dark side of the bottle? That's foam core
being used as a reflector. This is foam core, and it's called that because it's two sheets
of white paper with foam in the middle, that gives it rigidity, keeps it from curling,
makes it real nice for all kinds of photographic uses. Some of the names that they use for
this is white card, it's not poster board, a lot of people refer to it as poster board,
but poster board is a lot flimsier and can be rolled up, and it has its' uses in the
studio, but this particular thing is foam core. It's also a thicker one made out of
a different type of foam in the middle, and it's called gator board, and it's used to
mount photos on. It's a lot more expensive and not to be confused with the cheap, less
expensive foam core. This can be purchased at almost any art supply store, a lot of times
you can buy small sheets of it at discount stores. If you need a full sheet of it which
comes in really handy, it comes in 4'x8' sheets, if you're photographing a lot of people it
comes in handy. You will have to get that at an art supply store.
