Adaxes includes two powerful tools for Active Directory management: Adaxes Administration Console - that you can see on the screen
and Adaxes Web Interface - we will discuss it
a bit later in this demo. While at first glance the Administration Console looks pretty similar
to Active Directory Users and Computers, there is a number of significant differences. The
Administration Console allows you to manage multiple Active Directory domains - even belonging
to different forests from a single point. For example, if you need to perform an operation
on all members of the Sales department that are spread across several AD domains, you
can perform a search through all these domains, and carry out the necessary operations on
the found users. Adaxes Administration Console equips you with very powerful features that
allow you to perform various actions on multiple AD objects in a single operation. For example,
using the Add/Modify Property wizard, you can add or update practically any property
of the selected objects using modification templates. If you want to rename the selected
users using the Last Name First Name format, you just need to update their Name property
using the appropriate modification template. To generate property values of AD objects
on the basis of other properties, you can use value references. When modifying an object,
these value references are replaced with property values of this object. You can insert values
of any property of the objects being modified. As you can see, the format of the users full
name has changed. Adaxes provides additional property pages for multiple selections that
you can also use to update objects in bulk. Here you can also use the modification templates.
For example, to set a unique path to the terminal services profile for each selected user, you
can use a modification template that contains a value reference to the user logon name.
When the changes are applied, the username pattern is replaced with the logon name of
each selected user. Also, using the modification templates you
can reset passwords for multiple users in a single shot, specifying a unique password
for each user at the same time. For example, if you specify a template like this, passwords
for all selected users will be set to the value of their logon name plus the name of
their department. Adaxes Administration console allows you to move and copy multiple AD objects
using either Windows clipboard or dragn drop. Adaxes enables you to import and export Active
Directory objects to a number of data formats, including - LDIF, DSML, and CSV. Apart from
the import and export wizards, Adaxes delivers a command line tool for importing and exporting data.
Adaxes allows you to perform recipient management in Exchange 2003, 2007 and 2010.
When creating mailboxes for multiple users, you can specify a template for the generation
of aliases, select allowed mailbox stores, and specify how to pick a mailbox store for
each new mailbox. This gives you a load balancing mechanism that helps you to uniformly distribute
mailboxes among storage databases. The Administration Console allows you to view
and update properties of Active Directory objects on the lower level. When you select
an object in the Console Tree, in the Result Pane you can see all the properties of the
selected object. To update some specific properties, the Administration Console offers you custom
editors that make the process much easier. Administration Console allows you to add Active
Directory objects to the Basket and then perform operations on these objects collectively.
Add frequently used Active Directory objects to the Favourites, and than quickly locate
these objects with a single mouse click, and much more. But the real power of Adaxes is
hidden under the Configuration node.
