November 2011 Roundup.
A quiet November in terms of announcements, but a very busy one in terms of sales. Manufacturers
have already announced almost all the products that will be on the shelves for Christmas,
with just a handful of new handsets being launched this month.
Tablets. The Motorola XOOM 2 is a 10.1" Android tablet
that follows directly from the original XOOM, and is available to buy from certain retailers
right now. The more compact Motorola XOOM 2 Media Edition is a little cheaper and a
lot lighter and should be available soon.
Another "little and large" combination of tablets are the rugged Panasonic Toughpad
A1 and Panasonic Toughpad B1. The A1 is a 10.1" tablet due for release in the spring
next year, the more compact B1 won't be out until the Autumn which is a very long wait.
Smartphones. Two new BlackBerry smartphones, the BlackBerry
Bold 9790 is a traditional looking messaging device with a compact touchscreen. The BlackBerry
Curve 9380 is a low end touchscreen only device.
Heading for China, the Motorola XT928 and Motorola MT917 are very powerful and desirable
smartphones. Will we see them outside China?
Finally, amongst all the high-end and very expensive hardware on offer, the T-Mobile
Vivacity offers remarkable value for customers on a tight budget.
