that trade-off between performance and costs it is a business challenge but
it's the challenge to the design engineer
it's the guy who is in the trench trying to design the product has to be thinking about
what's gonna give the
acceptable performance and at the lowest cost
and it's all about how globally competitive we are
if there is a lower-cost solution for your design someone around the world
is gonna find it
and if it's not you that mean someone else it's gonna get your business the most
efficient way
of evaluating the lowest-cost and you evaluating the *** for the buck
performance is by using simulation
uh... and it's by using analysis tools that include the real-world 3D effects of
irregular plane shapes spreading inductance the mounting trace
of the capacitors including all the constraints of the rest of the design
it's by including all of those factors and in numerical simulation tool that will
let you haven't accurate prediction what the performances then you can use to
bounce cost per performance tradeoffs
you wanna apply those analysis tools as early in the design process as you can
in order to have confidence the design is gonna work without more margin then
you are willing to pay for and balancing cost performance tradeoffs
is really hard i think that's uh... significant challenge right now today
i've used HyperLynx a since uh... the early days of HyperLynx
and probably because it is the easiest tool to use out there when i let go of it and
then pick it up again few weeks later the learning curve is all seconds two
minutes
