Under NRS 193.168, the commission of crimes,
in order to promote gang activity
or for the benefit of street gangs,
carries a penalty of one to 20 years in addition
to the penalty that one might face on the underlying crime.
So for example, if there is a shooting, assault
with a deadly weapon, you're not just
looking at the underlying penalty
to go to prison, for example, for shooting at somebody,
but you could face up to 20 years
additionally if the conduct was done
for the benefit of a street gang.
