Hi, good evening Now, I want to give tips on how to photograph a water drop
but not on the water surface This time I will try to capture it on the glass surface
As usual, the equipment I use are Camera of course
I use Macro lens 100mm Canon, my Camera also Canon
The Camera is placed on the tripod.
The second main equipment are the Time Machine and the Control Box
And also a Drip Kit which already filled in with water mixed with the CMC So the water is thicker and also colored with blue dye
And then a flash, I use Canon 580EXII
where for the setting I use 1/32 power to freeze the water I install the trigger here, but I often run out battery when I shoot
So I use the cable connected directly to the Time Machine I now try to use the laptop to use the EOS Utility
To show the Quick Preview of the picture I take by connecting the computer to the camera
I have a homemade RIG where the background is made from milk white acrylic
I use a homemade (DIY) flash hood to spread the light I use black glass surface with dimension around 25cm x 75cm
You can find this black glass in home depot store But I also add black paint spray below the glass to give clean reflection
Camera position is around 30 degrees down
To give clean area in the view finder from top to down
Another important tools is tissue paper (to wipe out the mess) A red food dye
And this is a focus point, where previously I have set the water drop position
You place the focus point and set the lens manually
Now you need to test your flash Flash is ready and Camera is ready
Hopefully the computer will work properly This is the trigger connected to the time machine
Here we start, We see here the result (apparently it does not work, my computer was down instead)
We only get a black dot
From that black dot create by the water drop we see it is a blue
Then we put 2 drops of red dye
And do not forget to cover the sides using black curtain to block ambient light
There's a jumping spider passing by
Flash is down... (Canon EX580EXII have a saving feature) (keep chasing the spider)
Voila! (Got the spider in the frame) Hopefully useful
Oh, almost forget, for the camera setting
For this session I use 1 second speed f/16, ISO 500 to get sufficient light
OK that's all, I will upload the best picture I get later
Hopefully useful
If you don't have the drip kit, actually you can use another tool such as pipet or infusion tube
Because the technicality of this shooting is not about the tool
But more to the timing where the moment is captured by the flash
Thank you
