Carolyn: Well, technologists and engineers and designers
are helping us to make education more relevant
and efficient for children by helping us
design the classroom experience for the children,
but also the experience that they have with technology.
First and foremost, it honors the way children learn;
it honors their curiosity, and it honors the way they approach learning,
because every child has their own unique path to learning.
It also helps make learning efficient
because I'm able to target experiences and activities for children
at both their interest level, but also at their skill level.
So, if one day we're cooking or we're building a bird house,
and we're using fractions and I observe
that some children don't have
a really good grasp of fractions,
I'm able to cycle them back in through a short mini-lesson,
direct instruction, or practice using technology.
So, we're bringing together the best of breeds
from educators who understand
how children grow and develop,
and technologists and designers
who help us design experiences that are appropriate.
