A HUMAN SCALE FINANCE
If the economy changes,
if the production changes,
if the consumption changes,
if the saving changes,
also the finance changes,
because we don't have to think that
the finance is as magic place,
completely autonomous, independent from the economic life.
The finance is in a vital relation with the economy.
Also all the rules of the finance,
Basel two, so-called,
all this self-regulating of the finance,
it’s not that they are borned,
from a day by a miracle!
They are the fruit of choices,
of economic lobby,
of political pressures,
so the finance lives a big relation
with the companies,
with the states and the citizens.
So if the behaviour changes,
if the life styles change,
in the medium period, also the finance will change,
but, I think, that also the fiancé is a part of life.
We must, in the opposite,
to re-appropriate our self of the finance,
we must not imagine it like a place fare away,
abstract, technical, because we have seen
how in this crisis which,
if we think about the finance like a non human place,
then it becomes really not human.
We must populate the finance of people,
of values, of ideals, of passions, of people,
because only like this we may save it,
that means, not abandon it
and think that it’s a place for technicians,
for employees, but we have to
make that the finance re-humanizes itself,
considering it a piece of life
and then living it with people,
with passion and with ideals.
I think this is the way
because also this principles,
that this encyclical underlines
how the civil, the social, the gratuitousness,
the gift, the reciprocity,
arrive also to the finance.
But how may they arrive?
With the people, not certainly with
the affirmations of principle,
filling it with people full of this values,
also instead of the finance.
