>>DARREN: Hi I’m Darren Kennedy and today I’m here at Matalan, Cricklewood with three lovely ladies, all looking for a brand new look.
Now this week, we are looking at fabulous plus sized fashions. Let’s go meet the girls.
Hello ladies, you’re all here today because you all want a new look, but firstly, what’s the thing you find most difficult when it comes to shopping?
>>SARAH: Finding something that’s nice, but comfortable. I tend to go to supermarkets because they do bigger clothes.
>>DARREN: What are you hoping to achieve?
>>SARAH: Funky, nice, young.
>>CHANTELLE: Something that really fits my shape but is also very glamorous. My waist is quite small, my waist is quite wide so I tend to buy things that fit the hips and that are really baggy in the middle.
>> QUEEN: I’m quite top heavy, I’m quite ***, so it’s about finding clothes that suit my body shape but is also on trend and not a tent.
>>DARREN: A common theme for you all is black.
Have you ever shopped at Matalan before?
>>SARAH: No, I have never shopped at Matalan as I didn’t realise they did plus sized clothes.
>>CHANTELLE: I have never shopped clothing wise, no.
>>DARREN: Well the pressures on me! I can feel it, let me tell you! First things first though, let’s go shopping.
Now this is what’s known as an optical illusion dress. We’re going to try this dress.
Very much inspired by Stella McCartney's collection and it’s that panelling. We’re just drawing attention right into the centre of your body and the eye goes straight down the middle.
And the black will make it like you’ve been chopped off.
>>SARAH: I like that! That’s good!
>>CHANTELLE: Chop it off completely! I’m coming around to panelling now.
I really like that.
>>DARREN: Do you? Again, it’s very cleverly done. We’ve got a nice flash of colour and it’s going to slim the waist.
So I’ve given the girls each a couple of outfits, they’ve gone to the changing room to try them on and I can’t wait to see what they look like.
Now here they come!
Look at the three of you go! You look amazing. This renewed confidence.
Now talk to me about this outfit.
>>SARAH: I like it, definitely, happy with that!
>>DARREN: I chose this pink because it brings out your beautiful face, all your features and your skin tone actually, it’s very complementary.
>>SARAH: The trousers, I would kind of look at those and think, ‘work trousers’, but it defiantly works with the sparkle and the pink, so really happy with the whole thing.
>>DARREN: Are you surprised you could find all these in Matalan?
>>SARAH: Really, really shocked. I will be defiantly shopping at Matalan more.
>>DARREN: And Queen! You look like a queen! How are you feeling?
>>QUEEN: I feel amazing. I feel very feminine and it’s one piece, it’s got layers, it’s really vibrant.
>>DARREN: Now talk to me about the neck piece.
>>QUEEN: I really like it, it looks so expensive and it just finishes the outfit off lovely.
There’s lots of different choices, colours, there’s something for everyone in here.
>>DARREN: And of course finally we’ve got Chantelle in an optical illusion dress.
>>CHANTELLE: Loving this dress. I feel like princess, I feel very elegant and sophisticated. I feel like I’ve put on Victoria Beckham’s dress this morning, but it came from Matalan.
>>DARREN: I just love what this dress does to your shape, I mean you have a fantastic hour glass shape with curves and it celebrates them but also plays them down a little bit, it’s quite subtle.
You feel sassy?
>>CHANTELLE: Yes.
>>DARREN: Well girls, I have to say, I feel so so proud of you, you look amazing. Give me a hug!
Well I hope that’s given you some tops tips for dressing up those fabulous curves and if you’re looking for more inspiration make sure to hop on over to this week’s Kat’s Closet, where Kat will be turning to top fashion blogger Rossie.
