I don’t get it. Why do women wear makeup and men don't?
Men in the 1800s wore white face powder to retain an upper class appearance. They even
wore rouge.
They also wore white wigs. Are you suggesting I get a get-up to look like a British judge?
Body paint has been in use for at least 50,000 years.
Outside of the Burning Man Festival, football games and Comic-Con, it’s a sign that you’ve
got the maturity of a five year old.
Makeup lets you cover up blemishes and reduce age lines. Women wear makeup to look more
attractive, younger or healthier.
Why don’t men wear makeup?
Men do wear makeup sometimes. Have you ever seen Braveheart?
I don’t consider war paint makeup. And war paint isn’t proper public attire.
Men are increasingly wearing beauty products like hair restoration creams and skin creams.
Snake oil salesmen made a killing ages ago selling potions to help men re-grow hair.
Men don’t wear deodorant or body sprays as often as women, but they do wear them.
Actors and anchormen have to wear makeup in an era of HD TV.
Men often refuse to wear makeup because they think it makes them too feminine or gay.
Most guys don’t care if other guys wear makeup. Though you’re right, those that
do will generally mock them.
Makeup is expensive. Many guys would rather invest in beer to make the other people think
they’re more attractive.
Do you really want to rely on beer goggles of your target to look good enough to date?
You’re right. Makeup is more reliable than getting someone drunk.
Makeup is increasingly popular in South Korea. Even executives in the U.S. are starting to
use makeup.
What on Earth for?
To fight age discrimination and look better.
I never would have considered makeup to be an investment in your career. I would have
thought it to be quite the opposite, death to your reputation.
So do a lot of guys today, which is why many who do use makeup hide it.
