14 years ago, Childhood Brasil embraced the cause on *** violence
So we fight for a childhood free from *** abuse and exploitation
supporting other projects and developing our own programs too
The Call for Proposals is a partnership of Oak Foundation and Childhood Brasil
that has the objective to bring visibility to the cause
mostly because they represent engagement and communication projects
And also to influence local prevention actions in the World Cup host cities
Everyone in Brazil could send their projects
Overall we received 38 projects
And we selected 9 of them, that are here today joining this workshop
The workshop was based in 3 big themes
1) an understanding of the cause: *** violence against children and adolescents
2) communication and mobilization tools and 3) projects management
We are planning about doing an event along with the tournament
or with the seminar or even with the thematic meeting
to bring together children and adolescents
and also their parents
At our organization, we have a differential which is
making use of art to talk about the cause
In this sense, we bring the attention of the media
the people
the actors
and also tourists that are coming to watch the World Cup
We will have a lot of research time
to determine the right way to go...
We work with a commmunication tool
but this cause is new to us
So we will adjust the media
which is the Anonymous Soldier...
And we will prepare interventions in the surroundings of the Maracanã Stadium
So we need to map this area
to know which is the best spot, the best time and exactly the best way to act
We thought about developing seminars
to multiply the cause in public schools
Based on the teenagers knowledge, we will develop a virtual tool
that we can also share with our colleagues
To talk about other violations [against children]
without taking part on this emergency [*** exploitation]
is neglecting one of the biggest violations that can come across in this big event context
We use the inclusive sport methodology
to bring up other cross-themes
such as gender, sexuality, culture of peace...
The project has a fictitious character called Ana
a 13-year-old teenager
and this character talks to other teenagers
through themes that happen in teens daily lives
that are in the host-cities
To strenghten these ideas is part of our role as funders
We expect these projects to turn out in long-term partnerships
both among us and the projects
and also among themselves
We expect them to stay in touch
and exchange information
and from this encounter onwards
they will learn and maybe develop
a new network project in a long-term perspective
I think that this comes from a discomfort and a big will to try to evocke changes
It comes a moment
where we want to contribute for a better society
and we start thinking about social issues
and begin to work
I think it was really cool to know that we will be supported [by Childhood]
and if we have any doubts
we may get in touch and clear them out
Also, I think now he have a different perspective...
Yeah, we now have a greater responsibility
because now I'm not only representing my project
but also all the other projects
...so from now on, the World Cup is ours
and it's a World Cup free from violations against *** rights of children and adolescents
because this is unacceptable
These two days of workshop were extremelly nice
I think it represents a kick-off moment
when we start to invest in the youth
and in their capacity-building
in order for them to act on their own
and continue on this engagement path
I believe in the youth's potential to generate transformation
And also on their criativity and the energy that these projects transmit
So we have a big seed
that we're planting
believing we will harvest many fruits
