The best way to embed your personally created videos into Blackboard is to follow these
simple steps: Now this assumes that before you begin make sure your video has been created
and uploaded to your YouTube channel. Log into Blackboard and go into the area where
you need to embed your video. For this scenario I'm going to go into the Discussion Board
and then into Speech 1. And now I'm going to create a thread. Click on the 'Record from
WebCam' icon. That's this little icon right here. If you cannot see 3 rows of icons then
you need to click this down arrow to expand your icon selection. I could also choose to
use the MashUp tool however the Mashups searches the entire YouTube database and it may take
up to 24 hours for your video that you may have just uploaded to appear in the findings.
Once you click on the 'Record from WebCam' Icon a new window will open that prompts you
to Sign into YouTube. Enter your YouTube account information, your Google account information
and your password and then sign in. Once you sign in and then grant permission to Blackboard
to communicate with the YouTube servers I could actually record a video right here from
my own webcam instead of doing that I'm going to click on the Browse Tab, this searches
just the videos that you personally have created and uploaded. It's more current that the Mashup
Tool in Blackboard because it's not searching through the entire YouTube archive it's only
looking your little piece of the YouTube pie. I can select the video I want to share and
click 'insert'. It gives me 2 options in what my video might look like. One of them is a
play in place with the height and width already predetermined this is much like what a normal
YouTube video might look like. Or I can select the thumbnail view which is a small image
of your YouTube video but when you click on it, it explodes in a full version. Either
one of these options is fine. I'm going to go ahead and select the play in place and
then click Insert. Notice I have a yellow box here, this is my video. I will not be
able to see it until I click Submit but before I click submit I need to give my post a title.
I want you to be aware that you can also type content directly into this text box even after
inserting a video. To turn this all in click submit Here is my post and when I click on
my posting thread you will see the full video that I created with play and everything here.
That is the best way to insert your videos into anywhere there is a text box editor in
Blackboard.
