Hi This is Error No More and today I'm going to show you how to properly save an Illustrator
file so it actually prints on the school computers. So this is a rendering I had and I put a scale
figure in there and we are going to File, Save As, and we'll change it to like print
because what we are going to do is change the file a little bit so if you want to save
a file you are going keep working on make sure that you change the filename to test
print or something along those lines so you don't mess with your file and make sure it's
an AI file. So we are going to click save and then this window will come up and this
window is all these different options about printing. Up here at the top it will say CS6
don't worry about it, its just because I have an older version but all the buttons will
be in the same location for CS6 and the MAC version of the software. What we are mostly
concerned about the create PDF compatible file, so if you leave this checked it will
allow your file to be opened again in illustrator and you will be able to move stuff and edit
for printing we do not need this option if you leave this selected then you may get a
printer error and that can be very costly if you are printing on the plotter or even
if you are printing on the color printer. So when you are printing make sure you un-click
that button but if you are going to just save this file and send it to a friend or a group
member to keep working on the project keep that option clicked, but for printing keep
that un-clicked. Then all you have to do is hit ok. Then you will go to print and send
it to print on the school computers. there you go have a good day.
