bjbjBrBr Announcer: VLT Local Aid presents The Food City Kitchen. Walter: Hey, we re
chatting, waiting for you to get here. Where have you been? Let me show you right quick
what we're doing. We're taking, you know, Cinco de Mayo, Saturday; you don't have to
have chili in everything. We've taken a flour tortilla; we're going to brush it with melted
sugar. You remember Jan Carter, she visits with us. Not Jan Carter, Jan Charles. Jan:
I knew who I was. Walter: Jan, I knew it started with a "C". Jan: You got in the neighborhood.
Walter: I mean, come on. I brushed that with butter on both sides. I sprinkle it with a
little cinnamon sugar and when I get enough of them cut up I suggest that you ought to
maybe do six at one time. Jan: Six tortillas. Walter: It's just as easy. I cut that into
12 pieces. I put it on a baking sheet; put it into a 350 degree oven. I'm very careful
not to leave it too long because with that sugar on there it can get nicely brown . . . Jan:
That s right. Walter: . . . in a real hurry. Now, once you've done that you bring that
out. Note, there is nothing burnt on that plate. And, I would appreciate you re not
acting as if there is. And, you make a nice chocolate sauce which we have over here. It's
supposed to cool a little so I made it and it's been cooling a little. In this I put
about two to three ounces of butter, real butter. I put a couple of tablespoons of white
sugar, 3/4 cup of brown sugar, and 1/2 cup of heavy cream. I didn't say these were low
calorie, I said they were good. I drizzle those generously with this chocolate sauce.
Then, just to gild the lily, and that's just half of the nachos on there. Let s get it
distributed. Jan: That's right. Walter: Are we clever or what, Jan? Jan: Yes. The rest
go on top and then more chocolate? Walter: You sprinkle some nuts on. You put the rest
of the nachos on and you put on the rest of your chocolate and the rest of the nuts, and
you let that stand in the kitchen about five minutes before you take it out so that the
chocolate sauce doesn't run off when people start to eat them. And, you got guests applauding
when you enter the room, and you saw how easy it is. Jan: That's right. You want me to chocolate
up these? Walter: We'll chocolate up those. We'll get to that. Besides, we've got to tell
folks if they want to make these for Cinco de Mayo they've got to get the recipe and
we remember how to get the recipe, right? Jan: You remember how. Walter: All right.
That's the centerpiece and it's nice. Get the recipe by going to Chef's Recipe, 6450
Papermill Drive, Knoxville, Tennessee, 37919. Send a self-addressed stamped envelope or
you could just go to our web channel which is still volunteertv.com and get them right
there instantly and fix these. You don't have to wait until Saturday. Have a party tonight.
