Also brand new: the Sony Xperia U.
Special feature here is the exchangable lower section and the illuminated transparent band above it, which glows in the colour of the displayed photo.
This has no practical advantage but looks very cool.
Regard the white headset which matches to the body colour.
Again we have the adaptor for micro SIM cards to fit into the regular sized SIM slot.
This piece is one of the mentioned exchangable colour segments.
Here we have a little rag to wipe the touch screen clear. Unfortunately necessary like on all touch screen phones.
The Xperia U has the smallest screen of the three new models: 3.5 inches (Sola: 3.7 and Xperia S: 4.3 inches).
But the resolution stayed the same like on the Sola: 480 x 854 pixels, so the sharpness will be a little higher.
With it's 54 mm the Xperia U is quite handy and even smaller than the Xperia Sola.
On the other hand the U is a little thicker than the Sola, 12 mm instead of 9,9 mm.
Weight is quite the same: 107 grams is the Sola and 110 grams the Xperia U.
The cam is the same like the one of the Sola: 5 megapixels on photos, 720p on videos, no bsi sensor.
But as you can see there's no slot for a micro sd card.
So you cannot expand the internal memory which is 8 gigs in total, about 4 shall be available on delivery.
That's pretty little, for some people this will be kind of a no go criterion.
I have to search the power cell, sorry!
Here we are! By the way: it's capacity is 1290 mAh, that should be enough for a "small" touch screen like this for at least one day.
Coming to the features: again it's a dual core processor with 1.0 GHz, but NFC is not supported.
HSDPA with 14.4 downlink and 5.76 uplink - like all of the three new Xperias.
Here you see the illuminated band which is transparent as you can hopefully see.
In addition, Playstation games are supported by the Xperia U - target audience seems to be younger people.
I'm just noticing that the device is wobbling if touched while lying on the table, that's because of the bended back side and the logo.
That's quite uncool if you want to look for a date or phone number.
The letters are quite tiny. Compared with the Sola they are a little sharper but smaller.
Just look at these letters down here, I hope you can see the difference in the video.
On the Sola (left) they are a little bigger and for that I can read them easier.
Back to the Xperia U: again it's Android 2.3 instead of 4.0, but Sony promised the upgrade for the near future.
With 110 grams only and the plastic cover, the Xperia U doesn't feel very premium like, but it seems to be solid.
It's very handy especially in landscape format.
It's "White Magic" panel shall be very bright like on the Xperia S. This comes from a fourth subpixel that is white.
Now the setting is on max and it shall be viewed well even in the brightest sunlight.
And as you can see, the "Reality Display" can be watched even from extreme angles. Not that great as AMOLED or IPS, but quite well.
So much for the first view. 259 Euros is the recommended retail price, so the U is the cheapest of the three new models.
But remenber the small memory of 4 giga net - that's not enough if you really want to go multimedia with your phone.
So wait for the final review: maybe the multimedia capabilities are weak, then the memory won't be a big deal.
