Millennium Stadium, interview with Mark Taylor, former Wales rugby captain
[pause]
>>MARK: As the years go by, you realise how important the stadium is to Wales. You know,
you think of all the great things that have happened here since with the football, the
concerts, everything that's gone on. It really has become a centre for Wales in that sense.

So to have played such a part in the history of it, to have scored the first try, you know,
is something that I'll never forget. It's a bit of a legacy really that I really fought
and took a part of. It's famous as a focal part of Welsh sport and I think it's a focal
part of Welsh life as well now. [pause]
I mean, there's so many important events that have been held here. Obviously, first and
foremost this is a rugby stadium, but as I said, the football use in on many an occasion
as well, and it can be used for so many concerts and other sporting events, and it's just a
wonderful venue. And think it's something for the Welsh people to be proud of.

Whenever we go around the world playing games, I mean, everyone talks about the stadium saying
that it is one of the best venues, best arenas in the world.

I think sport is a very important part of life, of social and cultural part of in Wales
in particular, and I think there's so many great projects out there, but at the end of
the day sport offers such a good way for youngsters to express themselves.

It's so important going forward that we carry on this kind of funding for sport throughout
Wales and I think this is the one big symbol, but there are so many other smaller ventures
the Lottery has helped and I think that it's important that carries on.
