My project was Teens Reaching Our Community
it's a non-profit organization.
I started it because in my small community, I didn't see
many places for teens like myself to get involved.
I gave people the opportunity to be involved
in food drives and scholarship fund fundraisers.
And I raise 500 pounds for my local food bank.
And I also raise $2,000 for Nanticoke Indians
there's about five hundred of us in the tribe
and we all came together.
And it was a motorcycle ride to the beach.
We went around Rehoboth Beach Delaware
up through Ocean City Maryland
and came back down and at the end there was
a motorcycle competition followed by food.
And all the profits that I raise there
went to the scholarship fund.
I have support from Grotto Pizza in my hometown
and I also have support from local vendors
such as the Harley-Davidson communities and all that.
I thought it was important for me
to get involved because I noticed an issue
in my community
of Nanticoke Indians not graduating the way they should.
I feel like it's because they felt like
they didn't have the equal opportunity to go
and go on to college and go further.
So by giving them the scholarship money,
I gave them a chance.
I would encourage other people to get involved in volunteering
by looking around the community.
There so many problems that need help
in schools local churches everywhere.
I feel good it's a very good feeling
to volunteer and help people.
It's the best feeling in the world to help.
