Transit Card for STIB, Société des Transports Intercommunaux de Bruxelles
We have had a partnership with the Brussels transport company, STIB, for about 8 years.
This company was a pioneer in Belgium and in Europe in implementing a plastic card transit pass system
and we established a partnership in 2004 by deploying Pebble 4 printers equipped with a Calypso ASK coupler.
This fleet was upgraded about six months ago to the new generation Zenius printers.
This plastic card is called MOBIB in Belgium.
It is a multi-modal transit pass that is a must-have for all users of public transport in Brussels,
that is to say, in the subway, buses and trams.
STIB had been using the Pebble 4s for over four years
and the printers had already printed a great many cards,
so it was time to replace them with a new generation of more efficient machines.
STIB was very happy with our services so far,
thanks to our teams and the teams of Evolis.
So they wanted to continue the partnership with GMP and Evolis.
What were the benefits of replacing the printers?
GMP was proud to continue the partnership with STIB,
which is a major player in the field of transport
and especially a pioneer in transit pass technologies.
It was a clear demonstration of our excellent reputation and quality of service.
For STIB, it was an upgrade of their fleet.
They chose Zenius for its compact footprint, excellent performance,
easier operation with the new ribbon cartridge used with Zenius,
with card loading and output on the same side.
It was easier for STIB to continue using software they were familiar with.
Finally, the big advantage with the Zenius solution is that the Calypso module is integrated into the printer.
The client seems satisfied.
On this project, we were able to work in full cooperation
with STIB, our departments and Evolis R&D and technical support departments
to find a solution that exactly matches the expectations of STIB.
