Kris: Hey Kris here, from Bodies by Design Personal Training. As personal trainers from
time-to-time we get these great opportunities to help our clients prepare for a big life
event. For our female clients the big life event ends up being the wedding. Now I'm a
little pessimistic because in my experience, a lot of these women end up getting caught
up in the small things in planning their wedding and forget about the big thing, themselves.
That's exactly how I felt when I first was introduced to Angela. So here's Angela and
her trainers Mat and Heather to tell the next client star profile story.
Heather: (Laughs) ... Three, one, up again. [Inaudible 00:00:51] That's good.
Angela: My life before I joined Bodies by Design was very laid back, very calm, and
I didn't care about the way I looked or the way I felt. When I met my fiancé I started
to think about the wedding, and how I was going to look, and what kind of dress I wanted
to wear. Then that's when [Keith 00:01:24] said to me, "Go to Body by Design, and see
what they can do for you." I didn't really believe that I could have done what I did.
When I came here I had a really good feeling with my trainers, and they really motivated
me. I was at that weight for so long, that at the beginning I didn't really see anything,
but then after a while I was like, "Wow!" People were noticing and it made me feel good
inside. Mat: Yeah, she actually was getting comments
and when she walked through the door, she realized training with Heather and I just
gave her that extra boost to see, "Oh yeah, I can actually do this. Okay let's do this."
Heather: I think what really kept us going was the 8-month timeframe that we had, starting
in January. We knew that that date was coming, August 17th, here we go! So it has to be done.
Mat: Yeah. Heather: So that's what pushed us to keep
going. To change the eating habits, to get her into the gym twice a week, and she was
always here, always early, and so eager to keep going.
Mat: Yeah, absolutely. That helped so much more, because her drive and her motivation
kept us always on our toes, just like you said.
Heather: Yeah. Mat: It just gave ... new exercises,
Heather: ... Different routines. Angela: It was fun. To me it was you that
motivated [crosstalk 00:02:41]. I really had fun with you guys. It's really helping me
a lot. Heather: Our [sessions 00:02:44] they were
fun. We were always laughing about other stuff you know, so it doesn't feel like work anymore.
Angela: No. I had a problem with my hands and my feet. They would be really swollen.
My hands were hurting. I went for physical therapy and they didn't really help. I was
starting to get carpal tunnel in my hands, and they helped me to strengthen my forearms
and hands. Now I have no problem and my feet feel perfectly fine. I can stand up all day
now. Heather: Once we started approaching the wedding
days, end of June, beginning of July, that was when we noticed you were kind of hitting
a bit of a plateau. We were stuck around one strategy and were like, "We still have that
last 10 pounds to go." One of the biggest improvements that we made, was improving her
nutrition. Mat and I both were giving her lots of suggestions. Upping the vegetable
intake, decreasing ... you know too many carbs. We started just giving her ideas for smoothies
to make. Angela: Yeah, which I still do.
Heather: Which she still does. Angela: Every morning I have spinach.
Heather: A smoothie? Angela: Yes. It's really good.
Heather: That's a good one. (Laughs) We started actually doing the interval training too,
running outside a lot. That was helping as well. Now runs on her own which is fantastic.
Angela: Yeah I do. In the morning, I wake up really early and I go running for half
an hour or 45 minutes, and then I come back home and I do my other exercises.
Heather: Then when she comes in here we always give her ideas and different things that she
can do at home on her own so that she can really keep it going. She doesn't just have
to be working out at the gym, she has to do it on her own as well.
Mat: Angela first came into the gym, that idea of I don't know if I should go to a gym,
I'm just going to get bigger. I really want to lose the weight but am I going to be able
to do the lifting weights. With the nutrition it was shedding the pounds.
Angela: Yeah, I had a fear coming in here because I was embarrassed like, "They'll see
me," and like, "so much weight." I wasn't confident. I saw Mat first. He showed me this
little session we had ... It was hard. Mat: Yeah.
Angela: It was half an hour, but it was hard. I had never worked out so hard in my life!
After the wedding, and I see myself in the future continuing to doing now what I'm doing
with my nutrition, and I'm still going to come to the gym. I did so much work until
now, I'm not going to just let it go like that. I want to continue and hopefully...
you know. I want to continue and I'm going to get better. I'm going to maybe lose some
more weight and have like big muscles. I can't wait to get started. You can do it. You just
have to come in an d start your lifestyle change. (Laughs)
Kris: Hey, Chris here again. I really hope you enjoyed Angela's story. Very inspirational,
about a business woman who prepares for her wedding and looks her best. In fact, she looked
better than she did in high school. So Angela, I am a believer. You've turned me into a believer
and you've also turned some heads at your wedding. So, until the next client star profile
video, inspire to aspire. Remember the next star profile story could be about you.
